Importing and exporting

Bring clients across from a spreadsheet or another system, and download any list.

Importing clients

  1. Get a CSV file: from another system, look for Export and choose CSV; from Excel, choose File → Save As → CSV UTF-8; from Google Sheets, File → Download → CSV.
  2. In Doodali, open Clients and press Import (or Settings → Import and export).
  3. Choose the file. Doodali matches each column (company name, contact, email, phone, address, notes) and shows you the first row. Change any it got wrong, or set a column to Skip.
  4. Press Import.

Each row becomes a client, with the person on that row as its main contact. A row with only a person’s name (a sole trader, say) becomes a client in their name.

Anyone already in Doodali (the same company name, ignoring things like “Ltd”, or the same email) is skipped, so it’s safe to import the same file twice. A value that doesn’t fit, such as a website written as “n/a”, is kept in the client’s notes rather than lost.

Exporting

Your data is yours. In Settings → Import and export, download clients, contacts, deals, invoices, projects or enquiries as a CSV that opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. Clients can also be exported from the Clients page.
