Contracts and e-signatures

Send your terms, or an order, for a client to sign online.

Clients can sign your terms of business (on their own, or with the orders they’re agreeing to) online, from any phone or computer. It’s included; there’s nothing extra to pay.

1. Write your terms once

In Settings → Contracts, press New template, paste your standard terms, and save. You can keep several (terms of business, an NDA…); one is the default. {{client}}, {{company}}, {{date}} and {{signer}} are filled in when you send.

2. Send one

  • Just your terms: on a client’s page, under Contracts, press Send a contract.
  • With an order: when you add an order, tick Send it for e-signature.
  • With a won deal: when you mark a deal won, tick Send the orders for e-signature.

Choose who at the client signs, the template (you can change the wording for this client), and any orders to include. With orders, you can tick Don’t invoice until it’s signed: they’re held back from invoicing until the signature comes in.

3. They sign

They get an email with a private link. They read it, type their name, draw or type their signature and tick to agree, or decline, and say why. You’re told either way. Both of you get a signed PDF with a signing certificate: who signed, when, their internet address and the document’s fingerprint.

Keeping track

The client’s Contracts card shows where each one stands (awaiting signature, and whether it’s been opened; signed; or declined) with the PDF, the link to copy, a Remind button and Cancel to take one back.

A simple electronic signature like this is legally binding in the UK for most business agreements. For anything that must be a deed or witnessed (property, say), take legal advice.
