Moving from Xero to Doodali
Keep Xero for your accounts. Bring your customers into Doodali from Xero’s contacts, then connect Xero so invoices you raise in Doodali go into it.
Updated 30 September 2026
1. Export from Xero
- In Xero, go to Contacts → All contacts (or Customers).
- Press Export and download the CSV.
2. Import into Doodali
- In Doodali, open the business you’re bringing across, then go to Settings → Import and export and press Import clients from a CSV (or press Import on the Clients page).
- Choose the file. Doodali reads the column headings and matches them for you: company name, email, phone, address, VAT number, notes, and the contact’s name, email, phone and job title.
- Check the matches. Anything Doodali couldn’t match is set to “Skip”: choose a field for it, or leave it out.
- Press Import. Each row becomes a client with its main contact. More people at a company that’s already there are added as its contacts, and clients already in Doodali are skipped, so you can import again safely.
Tips for Xero
- Xero’s columns (ContactName, EmailAddress, POAddressLine1, POCity, POPostalCode) are matched for you.
What comes across
| In Xero | In Doodali |
|---|---|
| Customers | Clients, with address and email |
| Contact person | The main contact |
What stays behind
- Past invoices stay in Xero, where your accountant needs them. Connect Xero in Settings → Apps, and new invoices from Doodali are added to Xero automatically.
