Moving from Excel or Google Sheets to Doodali
If your customers live in a spreadsheet, you’re a few minutes away.
Updated 30 September 2026
1. Export from Excel or Google Sheets
- Make sure the first row has column headings: company, contact name, email, phone, address and so on.
- Excel: File → Save As → CSV. Google Sheets: File → Download → Comma-separated values (.csv).
2. Import into Doodali
- In Doodali, open the business you’re bringing across, then go to Settings → Import and export and press Import clients from a CSV (or press Import on the Clients page).
- Choose the file. Doodali reads the column headings and matches them for you: company name, email, phone, address, VAT number, notes, and the contact’s name, email, phone and job title.
- Check the matches. Anything Doodali couldn’t match is set to “Skip”: choose a field for it, or leave it out.
- Press Import. Each row becomes a client with its main contact. More people at a company that’s already there are added as its contacts, and clients already in Doodali are skipped, so you can import again safely.
Tips for Excel or Google Sheets
- One row per person is fine: people at the same company all come across as its contacts.
- A “Notes” column goes into each client’s notes.
What comes across
| In Excel or Google Sheets | In Doodali |
|---|---|
| Each row | A client with its main contact |
| More people at the same company | More contacts on that client |
